All Roads Lead To…
Mid last year, Randy Frazier introduced me to mind mapping. Totally cool concept. On last evening, I watched a movie that compelled me to create a mind map centralized to relationships. In my sometimes weird and very confused thinking, I couldn’t justify putting friendship anywhere else on the map other than as a provisional word for relationship within the given context. I just couldn’t do it. I could only map out a theory that said all relationships including friendships consist of love, passion, intimacy, support, trust, affection, truth, and my favorite..intense fellowship – All things that are commonly associated with relationships only. The only factor I found that could extend the arm of “Relationships” from “Friendships” was physical intimacy, which in theory could go deeper beyond common definition, but that’s another blog. I’m just a sucker for a good hug and believes that there is healing in hugging, but that’s my $.68. Besides, if you’re a great hugger then you’re just a great hugger.
Bottom line, personally, I don’t ever want the world’s “boxed’ ideas of relationships exemplified in my life. I desire those relationships that adhere more to those of David and Jonathan/ Mary & Elizabeth’s….you know those relationships sent and defined by God?. If we never share love, passion, intimacy, support, trust, affection, truth, and my favorite..intense fellowship, then we obviously don’t have a true and genuine friendship at all. We are merely individuals who possess enough intellect to hold random conversations at any given time. That’s not how I would describe my relationship with Christ, so why would I do it with any others? Ya dig?
